As a core member of the East China Normal University (ECNU) Basic Education Group and the ECNU Affiliated High School (No. 2 High School of ECNU) Baoshan Basic Education System, Shanghai Baoshan Huayao High School International Division offers A-Level programmes. Upholding and advancing the educational philosophy of No.2 High School of ECNU, the school is dedicated to cultivating global-minded talents through premium curricula, meticulous services, and an elite cultivation approach.
The International Division holds authorizations and accreditations from several prestigious international educational bodies. These include official recognition from Cambridge International Education (CIE), Oxford AQA, and Pearson Edexcel examination boards. The school is also an authorized UCAS center, assisting students with overseas university applications. In addition, it has earned accreditation from Cognia, the world's largest education accreditation organization, and WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges), along with official authorization from ASDAN to deliver its quality education programs and certifications.
Central to the educational philosophy of Shanghai Baoshan Huayao High School International Division is the "School of One" concept, which holds that personalized learning empowers students to exercise autonomy in their academic choices, cultivate decision-making capabilities, and confidently pursue broader horizons. This philosophy is realized through an efficient educational model centered on small-class instruction, complemented by a mentorship system in which dedicated mentors craft feasible, customized study plans tailored to each student.
In recognition of the diverse academic strengths, learning styles, and aspirations each student possesses, this personalized approach is enacted from the moment of enrollment. Every student is assigned a dedicated mentor and affiliated with a corresponding house. Mentors are responsible for developing tailored academic and university preparation plans aligned with individual aptitudes and goals, while houses oversee the organization of cultural activities that enrich campus life—together fostering both intellectual advancement and personal growth. The faculty comprises a dynamic cohort of accomplished educators who adeptly integrate Western pedagogical innovations with extensive experience in international education.
The school has also developed a proprietary personalized education management system that generates individualized timetables and monitors academic performance, examination results, and university application progress in real time, thereby ensuring transparent and effective home-school collaboration. In pursuit of a rigorous and responsive international curriculum, an integrated community connecting students, parents, and mentors has been established. Through small-class instruction, a globally minded teaching faculty, and a robust mentorship framework, this collaborative model underpins a comprehensive international education ecosystem—one that addresses the authentic needs of Chinese students and their families, supports informed subject selection, and enables students to realize their full potential within the A-Level framework.
